The ICC, hardly a pro-Israel mouthpiece, has agreed that the IDF has international humanitarian lawyers reviewing every target decision. While mistakes are made, as in this case, and are tragic, the IDF generally targets Hamas fighters who use civilian infrastructure as a shield, making it all a legitimate target.

Meanwhile the church in Gaza is in theological crisis. Not saying I would do any better but not once has any Christian there called for the Israeli hostages to be released. None of them help the IDF in their search for the only people genuinely starving/ tortured/ raped in Gaza. I don’t know how else to express this except to say this church has succumbed to evil. We should help, of course. Parishioners there are our brothers and sisters. But be under no illusions that those Catholics have long since ceased to be followers of Jesus.
